A Letter to Our Community
The first couple photos are pictures of our shop today, Thursday, Jan 26, 2023. The other few photos were taken over the years and represent our 1016 Ludington Street location in Downtown Escanaba, including when our original building was the Doris Shop and the Wickert Building. We love the feeling of nostalgia. Don’t you? It makes us feel an appreciation and responsibility to what was and what is now. After all, we are all stewards of our community.
Since 1985, Mr. Bike and Ski has been a pillar in Delta County. Our locally owned and operated shop is the local hub that connects people to an active lifestyle and outdoor community. It is with the relationships with our loyal customers and dedicated staff, serving all Delta County communities, giving back, seeing our city grow and evolve that has given Mr. Bike and Ski the privilege of being a part of its story. Without a community to host and support our small business, 38 years never would have happened. Thank you to all who think local first and for keeping your money where your heart lives.
We think it’s an important time to let you know that our small business will no longer compete for sales of fitness equipment with corporate owned, big-box stores or online retailers. However, the most valuable thing we can offer is our time and expertise. Although we have few in-stock fitness equipment items left and as we make this transition, we will continue to partner with Spirit Fitness and be your administrator for all warranty and service needs.
With that in mind, Mr. Bike and Ski thinks growth is important to the Escanaba community and economy, especially when it comes to a store that offers products to enjoy the great outdoors; camping, fishing, hunting and water sports. Ultimately, we believe that even when you choose to buy from a big-box retailer, that when you buy from anywhere in Delta County, that choice still positively impacts the local economy. Our 38 years affirms you can still have growth and keep supporting a real small-town American business.
Lastly, in continued efforts to get more people active and outside, Mr. Bike and Ski has plans to host more bike and ski clinics and sponsor and support various Delta County outdoor communities. Our mission to provide outstanding customer service and repairs for your bicycles, skis, snowboards and snowshoes, will continue to be at the forefront of everything we do. We strive to offer quality brands that inspire your best self; The North Face, Smartwool, Darn Tough, Stormy Kromer, Rossignol, Oakley, Tubbs Snowshoes, Trek, Giant and more. For 2023, we have thoughtfully partnered with Patagonia and look forward to bringing a wide selection of their durable, multifunctional outdoor clothing and goods later this year!
